No. Religion is a pain killer, or a coping mechanism. Even Marx said that you cannot do away with religion as it serves a place in society. If it is not religion, then it would be the acquisition of resources, which by the way often is the real cause for strife, but we use religion as a motivational factor to push people into the conflict.

It is a mistake to say that the world will be free from disputes and peace will reign, in the absence of religions. Religious disputes arise only because of the religious bigotry, the madness to have a uni-religious sentiment for the entire humanity. The dispute is because a majority of the institutionalised religions are dogmatic and hold that their religious views alone should prevail over the world. It is a religious hegemony. Even assuming that there will be no religion, in the world, that does not presuppose a strife-free utopia. Dispute is in man's grains. There will always be another reason for them to quarrel about.

And just WHO would take that decision & WHO implement it ? And if ONE person or ONE group of persons could do that , would you call it Utopia ? I wouldn't !
And as for "forgotten" , that depends on the individual minds of people ! which is why Mahatma Gandhi said that there are as many religions as there are people in the world !

No. Our differences that cause conflicts are not 100% rooted in religion. In fact, religion is usually just a buffer for the true cause of the conflict.
