In islamic stories prophet Mohammad went to the sky but he didnt meet with god but he headr his speach i will explain now somethin very important there' no way that the creator would resmeble the creature. all creations have a start god doesnt have a start he exists without a start. all creations occupy a space god doesnt occupy a space, some creations occupy all the spaces like air- air is a creature of god so god doesnt resemble that creature so god doesnt occupy all spaces he is not everywhere like some believes some creations occupy earth like humans and animals god doesnt resemble humans and animals so he is not on earth, some creations occupy the sky like angels god doesnt resmeble angels so he is not in the sky
every creation occupy a place so god does not occupy a place
GOD EXISTS WITHOUT A PLACE and all creations have some look (light, spirit, human, angel, animal, tree, sun, moon, anything we can emagine god doesnot look like these creatures coz he created them he doesnt have a form and he doesnt take forms

First of all, I want to clear up a misconception. The Mi'raj, or ascension of Muhammad, peace be upon him, is not to the "sky". It is a spiritual journey through the vertical plane of heavenly spheres. In Islam this plane we exist on is nasrut or the plane of human beings and manifest existence, the other planes also have names and types of existence and beings which dwell there.

Secondly, Muhammad (pbuh) did not "see" God, but rather was brought near to the presence of God. In Islam God has no physical form so therefore you cannot see God but rather be brought into awareness.

This can imply a spiritual trip as well as a physical one and this debate is ongoing.

It is interesting though to note that this night of ascension or "Laylat al Mi'raj" in Arabic is celebrated on the 27th of the Islamic Month of Rajab which this year (2006) falls around the 22 of August.

Peace and Blessings,

Salim

There is a beautiful novel by R. K. Narayan, famous English novelist from India; "A Tiger from Malgudi". Its a story about a Man-eater Tiger which comes in contact with a Saint who teaches it spirituality and tells it what God is all about; God and his powers. Then he asks the tiger how it has perceived the God to be. Surprisingly, the tiger says, "God is the biggest and the most powerful tiger in the whole universe with biggest claws, teeth and magnificent stripes on his body. No tiger in the universe can match his strength or powers".

Well, morale of the story is that every living being, specially humans, are selfish by nature. They all see their God as they want to be. For humans, God has body and appears like a human (with some mutations). For tigers, God will be like a Tiger.

So, it depends upon you, how you would like to see your God; in what form you'd believe him (or her, if you desire).

I don't believe in a god of any kind. But how could I possibly be so presumptuous as to tell anyone the exact form he takes, IF he exists and has a form at all?! That's what I don't get about believers--they say that they know so much about some being that, in all probability, was created in our imagination! Let's all be REAL AND HONEST and say that we just don't know, and we never will!!

God is attribueless but he appears to have a single or many bodies.Because he is formless Islam does not believe in his picture or sculpture. He is all prevading and only He is real.Whatever we perceive through our sense organs-all that is imagenary because to take cognigance of any thing we have to form an image.these images are thoght images. Hence World is imaginary

hahaha ... dear God is not a single body .. hes an entity .... the story about Muhammad and God is not like that .... please first understand the basic concepts and then go ahead to ask a question about them .. becoz if you have a wrong concept then your question will also be wrong....and no one can give a right answer about the wrong question... in islam there are two qualities of God .. he is every where and creater .. if he is every where then it should be clear that he is not a body or single thing ... and yes ofcourse he is a creater

for us Iglesia ni Cristo(Church of Christ), God is never a creature, why? God was never created by any being, he has no origin. Actually God is the "Creator not a creature".

taking about Gods nature, he has no physical appearance because God is a spirit. Thats what our bible says about God. i hope this help you.

I think God can appear anyway God wants to and most likely appears to the viewer in the form the viewer is most comfortable with or believes to be God's true form.
