IF and it's a big IF a draft ever happens, I don't really think they will care about your eye sight, migraines, and as long as there is a male with the family name alive, yep you'd go.

First, 2 years ago some democrate (yes a democrate, not a republican...look it up) in the US Congress submitted a bill to reinstate the draft. Obviously it didn't even get out of committee. There isn't going to be a draft so if that is your only fear about having to serve, forget it. Also, you are only eligible to be drafted (realisticaly) between the ages of 18-22. Yes, it can be higher but only if needs require it. My draft number in Viet Nam was 14, trust me I reviewed the critria.
I wasn't drafted but did join the army after college.

When you say your older brother was drafted that must have been in 1973....because that was the last time the draft was in effect. Did you mean that your brother enlisted in the military?

Your physical condition, primarily eyesight, might cause you to fail the physical requirements then but only if you are attempting to enlist into military service. Again...there is NO DRAFT in effect. Where do you guys hear this stuff...from your ill informed buddies, the local liberials or do you just imagine there is a draft without actually finding out. My guess is because you were required by law to sign up for the Selective Service System (aka what we called the draft board in my day) you assumed there is an active draft. WRONG. Should have read the paperwork they gave you.

If you don't want to serve in the military, don't enlist. It is that simple...honest.

During a draft, not everyone is chosen. It's called a lottery. If your number is chosen then you will go. You will still have to qualify physically and mentally.

Depends on what field they put you in. There is a lot of things you could do with poor eyesight.

you could be drafted but you would probably be disqualified during the medical screening.
