Very Profound and very true.

The outrunning is what the people believe, and what the people believe is what they choose to follow. If man chooses to follow the darker path, then so be it. Though there may be a better solution, the man who follows the path has therefore made his choice, and he believes his choice is good. No man is misguided because some men will agree with him and others will not. Those who do not agree consider themselves "guided", and they will believe nothing else. They may or may not be misguided themselves, and wheteher or not they are, the opinions of other people will always shape religion and spirituality. Every single religion is praised and hated, and every single religion believes they are guided. But if different opinions believe they are guided, then what of the others? This is what raises the question of what true guidance is. Guidance is what we make it, and without people there is no religion, no guidance. People make up thier guided ways. Science is no excuse for such things. As much as everything else, it is also a religion, though it may not appear so upon the surface. Science and spirituality are of equal power, and neither one knows any more than the other about true guidance.

It's a bit too easy. It doesn't take into account the real power in it all: MONEY.

You can't have the R&D without money, and those with the cash want to make more. It's called investment. So only projects that look profitable get the support. Armaments are one of the most profitable areas to invest in. Especially if you have a nice war, when you smash up all the weapons you've got, and have to buy a new load, plus the fact that there is a continual pressure to have bigger and better weapons.

I would not oppose spiritual and scientific power. The guided missiles are not science but technology. Science is knowledge, on its own it is no problem, its the application that is misguided.

What we need is another method of deciding what we should develop than PROFITABILITY.

Sounds good and partly true also. However, this is meant to be a sarcastic comment on the moral and spiritual degradation of the country's spiritual leadership, I suppose. Scientific power has outrun, if at all it has, its because people have ignored the spiritual power. Guided missiles may miss their targets too. After all, they are tools of destruction. They cannot solve the problems of mankind. They are guided by misguided men.

Martin Luther King, a truly great man. I'm not sure what he meant by spiritual power but socially we are way behind our technological achievements. Half the world still dying of disease and starvation and the other seemingly unwilling or unable to help. Let's hope we even things out soon.

Faith of all kinds are taught, worked, and corrupted by man. Its man's interpretation of faith that is the fundimental problem in each and every religion. I was bought up a Catholic which i'm sad to say is one of the more corrupt and hipocritical religions in the world. You only have to look at history both ancient and modern to see the results of just this sort of thing. Most war and bloodshed has scoured this planet in the name of religion more than anything else man could devise. Weapons of torture, mass destruction and eventually armigeddon have all come from furvant religious practises. Get rid of religion and 8/10 of the worlds problems could be solved in a stroke.

scientific power can be demonstrated. nobody has ever demonstrated that there is an such thing as spiritual power. Spiritual means - of the spirit. What the hell is that when it's at home? It's just that some people can't face accepting responsibility for their own actions and therefore have to invent an imaginary controller in the sky and strange mental "super-powers" to justify anything.

Man has always been misguided. That's why we have the Bible to showus which way to go. Mr. King was an intelligent man. His quote is spot on.

thats right and eventually science is going to be our downfall look at all these blackouts it costs millions and lots of damage things are going to get so complicated you might have a three dollar part burnt out and it could take 3 days to find what if you have new chemicals or drugs that effect the brain (look at asbestos they use for so many years before they know its harmfull to you) what if you have a generation that cant fix future things iam definetllly not saying the younger generation is stupid iam just saying that we may be overlooking something just like we did with pollution deforestation the green house effect etc

Still profoundly true. However I think if he were alive today Dr. King might be heartened by the ever so slight acknowledgement by "science" of the power of spirit. LOL...go dr quantum!
