well let me suppose you are asking about electrical power system.

an electrical power system consists of broadly following realms.

1. generation
2. transmission
3. utilization
4. protection and switchgear.
5. metering and monitoring

the power system very broadly governs the generation(ac/dc, frequency.....), transmission (ac/dc/ehvac/hvdc) utilization (traction, illumination, space heating...) protection(insulation coordination, power level, voltage level,) metering and monitoring(ct, pt etc)

your question is very huge to answer. i guess i touched the vital areas.

OK Power system is the system use to distribute Power from it source called power plant and distributed to a grid called High Voltage transmission line and transper to a sub station to regulate power then to high voltage again of a lower rating to another distribution system then to a transformer depending on the use , 3phase or single phase then step down to a nominal voltage as per requirement of different usage from 480,280 ,240 to 120 Volt, 60 ~ 50 hz Alternating Current
