Go in person to the Internal Revenue Service-Taxpayer Assistance Division and ask to speak to a representative. Explain how you got in this situation and see if you can make payment arrangements. Nine times out of ten,they will allow you to,but with added interest.

If Uncle Sam owes you $$$, nothing. But if you don't file within 3 years you can't get you money.

If you owe Uncle Sam...penalties, interest, and more penalties.

just interest and penalties ..if a extension was file it generally lessons the penalty ...if no extentsion was filed you could be charged with evasion
