I don't think one converts to christianity per se. Christianity is the definition given to a specific faith system that follows the teachings of Jesus Christ. Having clarified that let me explain that gaining your salvation happens when you begin to believe in the name of Jesus Christ. I pray I am saying the right thing to you and that I'm not saying it in such a way to make light of this very important event...let me start by saying that most Christians are led to Christ by hearing the Gospel which is the story of the birth, life, death and resurrection of Jesus. Knowing that you are a sinner and have sinned against the most High God, breaking His commandments and so forth..He provided a way for you to be reconciled back to Him through the life of His Son Jesus Christ. So when you hear this truth and believe it with your heart and mind and are convinced that this is the way of things...essentially you are or will be compelled to examine yourself and your life and confess to God the things you do, desire, have done or desire to do both in the open but especially in secret. You find a conviction in your heart to do better and to make amends where you can..this is how Christ has changed many peoples lives. He comes in and cleans up the place. If you can find a song by the singer/artist Shawn Groves called Welcome Home..it explains pretty much how a christian feels at the time they recieve Christ. Then after having this take place in your life you will more than likely find yourself facing some troubled times..sort of a time of testing where you might, I dunno, feel attacked by negative thoughts, depression, sexual desire, financial crisis..all that is Satan trying to get you knocked back down..happens alot. Again I sound as if I'm making light of this whole thing. Wish I was sittin' accross from you at coffee. To any extint, just keep praying, read the Bible, especially the Gospels and the Epistles..milk before solid food so to speak..and slowly start to change things in your life that will help you to have a more consistant walk with Christ. Well, all you have to do is find yourself a Christian church, whichever one is most appealing to you, and ask the minister if you can convert. The only major thing is that you'd have to be baptised and receive Jesus Christ as your Saviour. The minister should give you all the info on what you have to do!!

First of all, there are many different denominations of Christians so it is necessary to check out what they believe and find one that is closest to your own beliefs. There are those who believe in a unitarian god, Trinitarian God (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) all 1 God, there are groups that are sola scripture (believe in the Bible alone) etc so its a big difference between many denominations while all claim to be followers of Jesus Christ.
