i had a similiar problem a while ago if your running xp install the program then goto helpandsupport in start up menu, then click on fixing a problem, then application and software problems, then click getting older programs to run on xp,then click program compatibility wizard, just play around with the settings i found with a game called fifa2000 that isnt supposed to run on xp home edition that i actually didnt need to run it in any compatibility mode just had to turn of xp visual themes option in the program compatibility wizard.but your case may be different so play with all the settings till u find the setup to get the program to work.someone may tell u just to right click the program icon then goto properties then change the compatibility that way, which u can do but i found the other way more effective as you get more options, good luck message me if you need any more help.

You need to findout whether the software you want to install is compatible with Win 98 and XP.

Install the software in same way on all Operating Systems. I guess you have a PC with Win 98 and XP. You want software to be available from both the OSes. Just install them once for each OS. Thats it.
