Poor caged up birds, please take them back to the Amazon and set them free, the life of a bird in a cage dies faster then a bird that was left in the wild.

Amazon parrots can only be breed with birds living in the western hemispjere...try breeding it with a scarlet macaw!? or Swainson's Rainbow Lorikeet and a Cockatiel ...good color of birds will be produced!!!! we have eagles not parrots!

Vet Check first. Then you could join a forum like The Parrotboard and ask your questions there. At 9yrs old if he has not learnt to talk he may never. As for taming and training. Read up on Positive Reinforcement Training, this will help you. Gaining a good bond with him is the key to all you want.

You cannot just go rent a female to breed with your male. Birds aren't dogs, you can't rent them out for stud service. Birds are smart animals and have to be comfortable with their surroundings and potential mate in order to feel comfortable enough to mate...this process that often takes years.
If you want to breed amazons...first I'd say you need to do more research because it's very involved. Do you know what kind of commitment that is? I breed eclectus parrots and I'm telling you, it's not as easy as all that. You don't just let them breed and then you have babies to sell. It takes work and commitment. When I have baby birds, I can't leave my house for more than a couple of hours at a time because I have babies to feed. And if I do have to leave for a time..they have to go with me. It's like having an infant. I love it personally, but alot of people aren't willing to give up the freedoms of being able to come and go as they please that I am.
Also..you need to be ready to go purchase a mate for your bird. And at your birds age..I would be concerned with getting to young of a bird as yours is mature and set in it's ways. But getting an older bird you are going to run into the problem with them that it may take even longer for them be comfortable with each other because of their ages. I'd say....enjoy your pet and leave the breeding to those that already are set up for it and know what it fully entails.

i think you will be doin well getting any one to lend you a bird to breed yours being that they are so pricey your best bet would be to source out one over 5 years old from some were bye it and then try to breed them the other thing is the birds will have to bond they dont usually go sraight to the nest they will need time to get used to each other hope that helps you. try this place

If you really want to breed him, please, for the bird's sake, use a very small strap on....ok?
