Me and My ex broke up on June 26. We met online, then in person, had a good relationship with one another, so i thought. He broke up with me 5 days before my birthday. He said it was because I didn't trust him, but it was so hard for me to trust him when he kept bringing up different girls. He was gonna give me a promise ring on my birthday. Anyways, We got into a huge fuss after breaking up, said some harsh things to one another. I just signed onto my old yahoo account and he's left me messages telling me he regrets the things he said to me and that he is sorry for hurting me so much. He tells me to reply back just so he knows that I'm receiving his messages, even if it's to tell him to leave me alone. He says he wants to be friends, but I don't know. I haven't spoken to him, those were offline messages. I am over him now, I don't wanna fall for him again. I loved him more than life itself. If you were me, What would you do? Stay away or do what he wants and become friends with him?

my ex. boyfriend also broke up with me a week after my birthday, after we dated for about 9 months.. he also didnt buy me anything for my birthday or christmas. he put me in a really bad situation for a really long time. but to make things short, i think you should be friends with him at least, because he is saying he is sorry for the things he said to you. my ex never apologized for anything hes ever done that made me cry or angry...instead a month after we broke up, he hooked up with one girl and now is with another girl. if i were you, i would def. want to be friensd with him because it shows that he does care about you..alot. but make sure you take things slowly so you dont fall for him again.

You just said it .. "... or do what HE WANTs" . But is it what you REALLY want?

You ever heard the phrase that "Friends can become lovers, but lovers becoming friends- never" ?
Well, more than often it is true, like in your case.

My Ex who was my boyfriend at the time, had did the same thing to me. Except it was even more extreme. A year during our relationship, he broke up with me out of the blue- on my BIRTHDAY!!
And the same weekend, he asked me back and I foolishly said yes. Our relationship was never the same. We lost that loving bond. My feelings went downhill for another few months and then we ended it for good.
I even told him no we cant be friends.

Do you get it ? He HURT you. If I were you, I wouldn't even be his friend. Because I will not forgive him for hurting my feelings that way.

You say he broke up with you because you didn't trust him? Honey, if he cared enough, he would've tried and tried to make you trust him. When you discussed your insecurities, did he do the things to assure you that you needn't worry? Or was he so mysterious, and at the same time did he made you seem like you were doubting him unjustingly?
If so, you are better off leaving him alone.
