I buy styrofoam cake forms (they get decorated and displayed for customers as a demonstration). They come to me in a cardboard box and are surrounded by styrofoam "popcorn". Point taken regarding your question, but here's an honest answer.

Place it in a cardboard box and ship it.... best option. No need for packing. And if you want to prevent it from getting dirty ... wrap it in plastic.

Only if the styrofoam item is delicate should you pack in bubble wrap.
