There is no real answer to this question but what I have learned of what love is to me and that is the word LOVE itself holds the answer.......

(L)isten: and validate them by hearing and empathizing.
(O)verlook: their minor character flaws as they will overlook yours.
(V)alue: who they are and what they mean to you.
(E)xpress: how you love them not just with words but with actions.

You are just being honest. Most people do things thinking they know what they are doing. It need not be true. I think love is the feeling that you have for yourself...that wants to protect you, give you joy and the like. As for your questions, I dont think there is a fixed definition, perhaps you make your own definitions based on your experiences. For now, I would suggest that anything that you enjoy that does not cause sorrow or pain is good. And if you are not sure, try avoiding doing such things. Take care...clarity follows with time.

I've heard love described as "when you put the needs of someone else before your own." Food for thought, isn't it? I think that a good, healthy relationship is when you're able to be yourself with another person, without worry of judgement. It's when you laugh, cry and really contemplate things around you, without hesitating.

Robert Heinlein defined it as when the welfare of someone else is essential to your own. Other responders have expressed similar ideas. I agree.
