These are extremely expensive medications, that I can't really afford, but want the best for my dog and cats. More of the stuff seems to go on the fur than the skin. My vet says its the best of the lot, but then he sells it!! What experience have others had with this product?

It works.

Revolution, Frontline and Advantage all work. Tests show that they all work about as well against fleas, though Advantage works a little faster (which only matters if kitty already has fleas.). Frontline also works against ticks, and apparently Revolution works against other pests as well.

BTW, always buy from a vet. Dangerous counterfeits of all three products have flooded the market and have killed many pets. Even legitimate retailers have been fooled into accepting these fakes. A vet practice buys direct from a manufacturer's sales rep, so you can be sure you're getting the real thing.

I use Advantage (they are all pretty much the same)
my dog is 9, never had a flea on her and I think that's
the best. But I have found that the suggested dosage
is more than they need, I use enough to cover about
a 1/4" circle on her skin, and do it every other month,
That seems to work just fine, That way the stuff
lasts a lot longer so the expense goes down. And
using less means it doesn't get rubbed off on the
furniture as it does in your home.... You do need to
try to get it on the skin more than on the fur. If you
have trouble getting it on right, you may need an extra
pair of hands, to move the hair so you can get the product
on skin.

I love revolution. It kills feas and intestinal parasites, mange and a HW preventative. I do rescue so I am constantly bring new critters in with all kids of medical issues and I feel mine are more protected from they strays.

Be sure to have plenty of skin exposed when you apply it. I use the dogs collars that ride up under the fur. I then pull the collar forward and it exposes an nice line of skin.

I use it on my cats. It works great. It kills earmites and fleas. My vet showed me how to part the fur and apply it to the skin. You might need someone to hold your pet while you apply it. Make sure you get as little as possible on the fur because it only works when its absorbed into the skin. And make sure you wash your pets bedding so they don't get reinfected by fleas.
