Permanent straighteners are very expensive and you have to maintain it about every three months, about 500 to 700 every three months. A good cut should help. But you have to go to someone who knows how to cut curly hair well. Get a consultation with a stylist, ask if they charge...some do and some don't...doesn't mean anything either way. Curly hair is always on the dry side. It's cause the hair strand is not even and smooth like straight hair. Go to a salon and get deep heating treatments once a month, not the oil you get over the counter, it just coats your hair, does nothing for the health of your hair. You might want to consider getting a CHI iron. They are expensive too but you don't have to buy a new one every three months. They work very well. I use one at my salon and have had clients buy them through me. $225. Others just won't work as well, believe me on this one. I fell for it once. I wanted another CHI and one of my co-workers talked me into buying a different brand and it just didn't work as fast and didn't straighten as well as the CHI.
