based on the melanoma you have there 4- different types . but with any cancer not treated can be deadly.Superficial Spreading Melanoma (SSM=Because it's generally slow-growing, SSM has a good prognosis.if treated.
Nodular Melanoma (NM)
Due to its rapid growth rate and often widespread metastasis, NM has a very poor prognosis.. Acral Lentiginous Melanoma (ALM)
The prognosis for ALM lies somewhere between SMM and NM. When ALM occurs in the mucous membranes the prognosis is unfavorable.
Lentigo Maligna Melanoma (LMM)
The disease rarely metastasizes. While LMM generally has an excellent prognosis, lesions that are ignored or left untreated can eventually develop an unfavorable prognosis.
Ocular Melanoma
Ocular melanoma is treated with laser surgery, chemotherapy and radiation therapy. Without treatment, vision can be permanently affected, and the cancer may spread to the brain. If metastasis is a possibility, the eye may have to be removed to prevent the cancer from spreading to other organs.

He's right, you can die. In Australia we have the highest incidence of melanoma in the world. Not a good contest to win huh! If you get regular check ups and its detected quickly you have a good success/ survival rate. And with some skin cancers they dont kill you quickly, simply disfigure. But to be sure, go see your doctor and get a check up. Often its not a melanoma at all, but a big mole that just irritates sometimes. BUT GET IT CHECKED OUT. If this is yourself you are talking about , get to a skin specialist ASAP
\If this is a friend you are concerned about, make sure they are properly diagnosed by a skin specialist as it is not easy to identify melanomas without training.
Left untreated ..? You could die.

You would die. There are many different types of skin cancers, but malignant melanoma is the most fatal of all the types.

If it not treated (excised) QUICKLY the cells will travel to the Liver and in ten years or so you will no longer be asking questions here...you'lll have wings and a halo and you'l have all the answers! Run don't walk to your nearest Oncologist/Dermatologist!

Its a very serious skin cancer and it has a high death rate. It can also eat away at your skin. One of my great grandfathers had it and he was missing half of his nose and it was eating away at his cheek. The last time i saw him i was 6yrs old and and i can still see it as clear as yesterday.
its not something you want to mess around with.

melanoma is the deadliest cancer, so without treatment, you wil die. and it will be a painful, tragic death.

This type of cancer spreads very quickly, get it removed now or it will spread and you will die within 12 months.

depends on how active it is.but its cancer and a very quick spreading one when active.A freind of ours managed to live another 6 months after finding she had it.Always treat it as serious.
