'God did it' was historically the default answer for the inexplicable. Science started as a branch of philosophy - slowly connected to alchemy and fully immersed in the concept of the 'supernatural'. If you have no sense of evolution, quantum mechanics, modern cosmology and a million other things besides, it would be slightly daft to say 'these things did not have a supernatural origin'. It's the knowledge that we have since gained that shows us that the world makes a lot more sense if you disconsider God from the equation.
In any case, heresy has been a capital offence for much of European history. Just think about Galileo and imagine what would have happened to a scientist - and his work - at the time if he had publicly stated disbelief in God.

You seem to be begging the question since not "all" prehistoric or medieval scientists believed in "God."
During the Catholic church's reign of terror that lasted well over 1,000 years, anyone who did not profess a belief in the Catholic version of "God" was executed. So, there could be no scientists that did not profess a belief in "God."
The Church of England adopted that practice and likewise executed "heretics."
The US was the first modern nation that provided "freedom of religion" but even early Americans were forced to profess a belief or they would be outcasts in their local communities.
Your "facts" are incorrect.

What you don't understand is that a person that follows the scientific rules and that believes something must be able to prove the truth of his believes.
Confronted with new contrary evidence he will easily change his mind.
Old days scientists formed their opinions with the information they got but the information changed a lot since.
So open your mind and don't jump to any conclusion without thinking.
sorry 4 my English.

Because they think they know while in fact they don't know anything. They are proud of their knowledge and think science is the way, while in fact all the knowledge of the world will be no more and only Love alone will remain for ever.

Because the more we learn about science and empirical data and truth the less we believe in anything that can't be proved.

Could be we're just starting to rediscover the lost truth? Anyway, this is better than just swallowing the truth without scrutinizing it first.
