They were saying on the news the other night they will start coming down shortly (in the next few months) as the growers are finding thier feet but they wont be as cheap as what they were previous to the cyclone that wiped out all the crops for a few years yet..apparently

The latest news is that they should be appearing in more abundance just before Christmas.
I paid $13.99 for a kilo, just last week, and am savouring every delicious mouthful. I've even sacrificed chocolate to buy bananas instead!!
On the up side, the ones you buy at the moment have ripened naturally, and taste like bananas USED to tase, many years ago, before gas machines got to them......

When Australia imports them from somewhere else tropical - like New Guinea - apparently they cost peanuts in New Zealand and they import them from there.
We should do that at least until our own growers get back on the feet
