For the most part, yes. In our lives, Christ is our shepherd. If we follow him we will not become lost. The sheep that do stray off must be brought back by the shepherd. The same goes for the Savior. When we sin, or fall away from the flock, we can turn to the Savior through repentance to bring us back to his fold.

If you're just asking about a general leader, I suppose the same could be said to an extent... but I'm assuming you meant Christ.

theres an illusion taht you are supposed to be reminded of to give you a sense of waht your "leader" tells you to do ..... sheep follow ..... therefore when one says that they are your shepherd he is telling you to follow in his / her footsteps ........... in this case Jesus told his followers that he was their shepherd and to follow in his footsteps to have eternal life in heaven
