http://www.mountvernon.org/learn/collections/index.cfm/sss/22/cfid/2773444/cftoken/72483456 ......The Library holds approximately 500 documents in George Washington's hand, and the largest known assemblage of Martha Washington's letters, about 40 out of an existing 140. Although manuscripts written by George and Martha Washington are of primary importance to the Association, significant information also is communicated in documents written by estate managers, family members, neighbors, and visitors to Mount Vernon.
500 manuscripts? and we have 24,000 NT manuscripts today?
Tell me why you think George Washington lived, since you werent there and all...and tell me why you think Jesus Christ lived or not? thx :)

Since George Washington does not appear anywhere in the Bible, it is obvious that 1) the Catholics made him up 2) he was never given the authority to be president of the united states 3) he was just a poor dirt farmer 4) he couldn't have been the father of our country, because it says in the bible to call no one your father except God

There are far more proofs that Washington existed. It's absurd to even doubt that Washington may not have existed since we have so much historical proof, and it's only 250 years old. The argument about Jesus is a complicated on, mainly because The Bible is considered the most accurate source of information. Keep in mind that what was written about Jesus came from various people with different points of view--and they contradict often. Did someone name Jesus exist? Most likely, but information from 2000 years ago is, well, questionable. But comparing Washington to Jesus? I always thought the consencious was that there has been a George Washington and he was the first president of the USA. Jesus is so heavily doubted because he is considered a messiah, which upsets a lot of other people whose religion already HAS messiah.

500 manuscripts in Washinton's hand.
0 manuscripts in Jesus's hand.
24,000 manuscripts _about_ Jesus.
An incalculable number of manuscripts _about _ Washington.
Your argument is highly faulty.
Anyway, your logic is lacking - I have seen with my own two eyes neither George W. Bush nor Puff the Magic Dragon. By your logic, either I should believe in both or I should believe in neither. We still have the ability to make educated guesses about things based on the source and validity of documentation.
Do I believe Washington existed? Yes.
Do I believe Jesus existed? Generally speaking, yes.
Do I believe either of them are divine? No.

got u.
''errr, u realize we have more documentation that Jesus Christ existed than we have that our first president existed?''
partially correct
there is historic evidence that Jesus existed.
The question is: was he son of God?
As a person that follow the science principles I don't have problems accepting the evidence but I have problems with jumping to the conclusions.
And until now I found no evidence that God exist as about everything I know can be scientifically explain. That doesn't mean God didn't exists but, if all can be explained without him, there is not much left for God to do.
So, Jesus probably existed but probably was not who you want him to be.
(my opinion)

Ah, but what you're forgetting is that NOT ONE OF THE NT manuscripts were actually written by the hand of God. No one has actually ever seen the face of God. God didn't fight any wars, didn't lead a nation, didn't marry or have any children he actually physically fathered.
No, there's only supposed "inspired" writtings of mad men who think they heard the voice of God.
Honey, today those people would be called Schizophrenics!

I think you'll find those that say Jesus didn't exist a little thin on the ground, in my opinion, he did exist, was just some random carpenter, and was revered for saying "Well, how about it? Why don't we not be complete bitches to each other?"

There is only one source of information about jesus. That source has been found to be inaccurate about many things.
There are thousands of sources that give information about Washington. Many of them writen by while Washington was alive. They have been found to be highly accurate.
