How can I shake off a persistant optimistic girl?

Question

There is a female where I work, who I have no interest in whatsoever. I have no desire to be her friend, I have no desire to be MORE than friends. I just want her to leave me alone.

I've tried the direct approach "Please leave me alone" , "I dont want to be bothered", "I do not like you, please go away"

I've tried simply ignoring her.

I've tried insults (this is usually beneath me, but desperate times call for desperate measures)

I've tried approaching her friends and asking them to clue her in

I've tried approaching MY friends and asking them to clue her in

-nothing works-
Every day she is there, same manic grinning face, always spouting such cheer and optimistic happiness, Always trying to poke and/or hug me, Never getting the hint that I'd prefer it if she'd just go away.

The problem, at one time was contained to just the workplace, however it has now spread to public places, and in one case following me for 3 blocks, just to say hello.

How do I make her leave me alone?

File a sexual harrassment complaint. Most work places take that kind of stuff VERY serious. Some people are just natural born psychotic, obsessive stalkers. It sounds like you have done everything that you could. At some point you have to draw the line. Also you can file a complaint for a hostile work environment as I am sure this psycho makes it difficult for you to get through your day.
Good luck and hang in there. I guess the only other thing would be depending on your age groups, get your parents and her parents involved. If you are an "adult" maybe you should still contact her parents. Obviously she has some serious issues and her friends really aren't her friends if they aren't willing to tell her about her issues. Perhaps you can even try making out with someone in front of her, lie tell her that you are gay, anything!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's Sexual Harassment and you don't have to take it! lol. But seriously say something to your Human Resource Director first. Because you know if a man even looked at a girl the wrong way he would be fired, sued, and incarcerated in a minute flat. Anyways, just mention something to HR....they will have a talk with her, and hopefully that will stop all the unwanted attention. If she doesn't leave you alone, and you're still bothered by her, you might have to get another job. Because you simply just can't put a PFA/Restraining Order on someone solely based on the reasons you listed.

Her attentions have long since departed the realm of the reasonable and you would not be amiss to consult your superiors about this, prior to obtaining a restraining order. She is quite obviously irrationally obsessed with you and I don't doubt that this irrationality spills over into other areas of her life, such as work, accommodation, relationships and others. From now on you would do well to treat her as you might any irrational person, with caution and a paternalistic concern for her welfare. Her friends and colleagues need to be co-opted into this campaign.
This is no longer a girl with a crush; this is stalker mentality. Proceed with caution.

Have really lousy sex with her. Make sure you fart in between every other thrust, be drunk and as a finale you could puke on her instead of orgasming.

But seriously, just tell her that if she doesn't leave you alone you will make life as unbearable for her as the hell she gives you. So find out what annoys her so much that she forgets to grin and cheer. If nothing else works make it a case for the management. But leave that as a very last resort.

Don't pay her any attention. At first you'll think that nothing is happening but trust me, sooner than later she'll get bored and leave you alone. The best way to get rid of a persistent person is to ignore them. They like the thrill of the chase...and so when there's no chase...they lose interest...It will take time but it'll work...otherwise just call the police and file a report...

Yeah, see, hints aren't easily taken sometimes. Maybe honesty (but not brutal, cruel honesty) is the way to go on this one. If you tell her you'd rather just keep it to the office, that may help give her the hint. Because you tried to humor her, she probably believed you might enjoy the attention she was paying you. If you kindly deter her from following you around beyond the office, I'll bet her office behavior toward you is dramatically scaled back.

in your case, she likes the ignorance, annoyance, she's playing with you. it might be all fun for her to bother you, being turned out by you. and whatever you do is a new challenge for her, i can feel the cruel happines.
If she feels that way. you gotta do what she does NOT expect. you can be her friend. if you make friends with her at the same time you finish her challenge to make you her friend, and you will gain more influence on her. best way to defeat enemy is to have them in and then make an unexpected attack on them when they trust.
have her your friend. and then try cruel things. it depends on your cruelty. she'll be ruined this way!!!;)
if she really loves you the first method(beign friendly) will not work, but the second (ambush!) will work perfect!

You got a serious stalker on your hands man. File sexual harrassment on her and get a restraining order. Try not to walk alone. She could flip on you and go insane. I know. Happened to me once.
