Do you realize that morals are based on Christian standards? Not every one lives up to par all the time, people make mistakes, that is why we need grace and mercy. Only when you understand the definition of perfection can you truly be perfect. Perfection does not mean flawless, it means complete, mature, finished growing up. A 50 year old man on the outside can be, but an infant spiritually. Infants don't know better because they have not grown up yet. Read and understand Ephesians 4 before you ask a question that already has an answer. The biggest felonies are also in the Ten Commandments. Police didn't set these laws, Christians did.

No everybody knows that woman rights have increased the divorce rate. (not that thats a bad thing)
Women are more impowered today then ever before, and because of that they have less reasons to need men. Back in the day if a woman even thought about leaving her husband he would just beat her, and nobody would care at all.
A good relationship last when people know when they need to yield to the other person and let them have their way. The way it used to be is that the woman always was the person who had to yield, because the man wore the pants. Now days both hold equal standing and because of that there is more contention between them.
Most Christians think they are all high and mighty and they know about true marrage, but they're just as bad as everyone else. That doesn't mean they are causing it though.

I don't think that religion necessarily has anything to do with marriage or divorce rates. I think that divorce rates are so high because people do not take marriage seriously. I'm gay and cannot marry but understand the legal contract by which I would be entering. Then again I've worked for mobile phone companies and credit card companies and have been amazed at how few people actually read the contract (user agreement, or whatever name they happened to give it) before signing and/or using the services. (I worked in customer service). So people seem to take contracts very lightly and they take contractual agreements very lightly. And just as there are many people who end up canceling their mobile phone service or credit card service over some dispute that erupts over issues that were stated in the contract and thus switching to another service provider and entering into yet another contract (without reading it) I think that tends to be the same attitude most people seem to enter into the legal marriage contract.
But that's just a perspective from someone who can't legally marry (but atleast, thanks to the first amendment, I can still religiously marry and I just happen to be of a religion that allows it).
Just my humble opinion.
Peace be with you.

I don't know where you belong, but you make statements that are too general. You are misinformed that America is Christian and all that happens is due to their religion. Divorce and immoral behavior are there everywhere in every country. May be in various forms and intensity. Those who condemn America for the divorce rate do not have any statistics about pornography, child molestation, pre marital sex, divorces, prostitution, and all other immoral activities in their own country. There are religions that promote these as part of their rituals. But Christianity teaches against these practices. So look at yourself first if your are doing these in the dark while the Americans are doing it in the bright day light. You may be ill treating your wives when the American says good bye and leaves her to her freedom.

I don't think it is accurate to blame the divorce rate on Christians. Christians do not condone sex before marriage, and therefore it is the non-Christians who are engaging in that activity. There were as many or a higher percentage of Christians in the 50's and the divorce rate then was much lower.

I don't think the high divorce rate is due to Christians, but rather can be attributed to those young people who in the 1960's, abandonded their faith and their forfather's faith and became the "me" generation. Their selfishness, drug use, and disrespect for country and religion took quite a toll on their children, who now have no solid base of values and personal integrity, not to mention spirituality.

It's the opposite. It's failure to abstain from sexual practice from marriage. Failure to adhere to good Christian principles. Do you think the nation is more Christian now than it was 50 years ago? Obviously not. The divorce rate is also higher. Comfort and ease are the bane of Christianity and religion in general. No one is more comfortable than we.

Yes. but not in the way that you mean.I believe Christians and the Church are partially to blame because they have grown ineffective and apathetic .If they were instead on fire for God and lived and preached the gospel of Jesus then there would not be as much divorce as there is today

Are you trying to say that Jews, Muslims, Hindus and Buddhists are all getting married first before having sex? You need to pull you head out of your *** and smell the coffee..., where have you been all this time. Some of the most perverted people I have ever known happen to be non Christian.
