DON'T JOIN THE NAVY.
Has the recruiter told you about the 24 hours of mandatory duty you'll have as often as every 4 days? That means going to the ship and being there for 24 hours. Of course, it's not so bad if you're already living on the ship. Because you'll be there anyway. You'll eat on the ship. You'll sleep on the ship. You'll work on the ship. And you'll spend your free time on the ship. Then there will be times when you'll go out to sea anywhere from 1 day to 6 months or more. You may go out to sea a lot. And when you're out to sea, the work schedule is 12 hours on and 12 hours off, 7 days a week.
If you want to enjoy the military and learn something, join the Air Force.
If you want to be on the water, look in to joining the Coast Guard.

Navy basic is only eight weeks long, as compared to Army and Marines which are usually twelve weeks long.
Navy concentrates more on studies while Army and Marines are more physical ability based.
