I understand that no one can ever prepare for all the dynamics of childhood. I am still single with no kids, but what skills could I improve on to be a better parent? What skills have you found to be the best when parenting?

I'm glad I'm not the only one thinking about this.

i admire that you have even considered preparing to be a parent - seems few ever feel the need to.
IMO, parent training is more important than any other pursuit in life so I'd suggest going here for starters:

or here:

also book stores, the library and google
good luck

this is not an easy subject to deal with, because kids can become spiteful and they learn every single thing they observe and if u mess up once it may or may bot come back to bite u in the ***. ok now that i'm done scaring the **** outta you. i'm not a parent but i already kinda have my parenting plan set up. well actually all i have is what i'm gonna do when my kids are in their teens. but i know that when they are little and very observant they should learn morals from you and their ethics come from you-the parent, i dont know how i just know what, i guess u and i will have to decide what to do when the time comes, unless u get a better answer from someone else.

Yes take some parenting classes that can help you become a great parent and heres some tips if you think of becoming a parent do not spoil them with so much you know like toys, money, candy, and tell them do not lie its bad and take them to church and take them to a park every now and then and tell them how beatiful they are and tell them its wrong to do drugs and smoke and tell them dont do anything that pleases others and dont pleases you. and when they tell you they're not feeling too good take good care of them or when they come to you and say they have this physical problem make a doctor appointment.

There is no way to prepare to be a parent. To become a better parent you must be patient and understand those are the two key points in parising children.
