how does one cure or reduce the symptons of adult atopy?

my boyfriend started developing brown spots all over his body, especially his back, since last winter. he's tried all sorts of medicine but doesn't stop the itching. now, he's taking a liquid formula which seems to stop the itching, but the spots won't go away. please help.

What exactly does he have? Did a doctor diagnose this?

Adult Atopy refers to Asthma. Doesn't have anything about spots or itching.

Has he tried Benadryl for the itching?
