Well, I'm not religious. You should talk to your preacher if you are seriously religious and concerned with your faith. They handle these types of questions regularly and keep the utmost confidence.

Otherwise, I believe that masturbation is healthy and normal.

Masturbating is a sin, but it's not as serious as fornication like you've said. The reason why it's a sin is because of the impure thoughts you have - 'impure' is the key word, as simple as that. All things that are impure/evil (no matter how trivial) are sins. There is no need to try and debate/convince yourself otherwise because you cannot deny the truth - and you know that because you feel ashamed talking about it.

Though it's nearly impossible to stop masturbating, you can reduce the amount of times you do it. This is not something you do in a day, but over a span of weeks and months. First try 3 times a week, then 2, then 1... and this can be done by:
-keeping yourself busy
-eliminating any type of sexual stimilus: whether it be on tv, magazines, or even when you're walking down a street. Lower your gaze and turn away.
-Immedietly try to think of something else, don't reflect upon the thoughts that arouse you.
-Fasting: that'll diminish your sex drive
-Think of the humiliation you would experience on Judgement Day (if you really meditate on this, it's truly terrifying)
-Think of the rewards that you would gain.

I don't know how religious you are, so I don't know if you'd be willing to make all this effort, but in the end, it all returns to your priorities in life. I'm a Muslim, and to me, my goal is God's pleasure, not money, not friends, not power, but God's love, this is truly the ultimate triumph, if only people knew it.

Peace be with you.

Some say it is, some say it isn't.
Go with your feelings.

This is what a great bible website says about it:

Question: "Masturbation - is it a sin according to the Bible?"

Answer: The Bible never specifically mentions masturbation or states whether masturbation is a sin. There is no question, however, as to whether the actions that lead to masturbation are sinful. Masturbation is the end result of lustful thoughts, sexual stimulation, and/or pornographic images. It is these problems that need to be dealt with. If the sins of lust and pornography are forsaken and overcome - the problem of masturbation will become a non-issue.

The Bible tells us to avoid even the appearance of sexual immorality (Ephesians 5:3). I do not see how masturbating can pass that particular test. Sometimes a good test for whether something is a sin or not is whether you would be proud to tell others what you had just done. If it is something you would be embarrassed or ashamed about if others found out, it is very likely that it is a sin. Another good test is to determine whether we can honestly, in good conscience, ask God to bless and use the particular activity for His own good purposes. I do not think masturbation qualifies as something we can be "proud" of or can genuinely thank God for.

The Bible teaches us, "Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God" (1 Corinthians 10:31). If there is room for doubt as to whether it pleases God, then it is best to give it up. There is definitely room for doubt in regards to masturbation. "For whatsoever is not of faith is sin" (Romans 14:23). I do not see how, according to the Bible, masturbation could be considered glorifying to God. Further, we need to remember that our bodies, as well as our souls, have been redeemed and belong to God. "What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price; therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's" (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). This great truth should have a real bearing on what we do and where we go with our bodies. So, in light of these principles, I would definitely have to say that masturbation is a sin according to the Bible. I do not believe that masturbation is pleasing to God, avoids the appearance of immorality, or passes the test of God having ownership over our bodies.

It may not be the conscious intent, but organized religions have figured out how to control people. You control people through guilt and fear. you make them guilty about natural body processes and you instill fear by telling them that a bad thing (going to hell) will occur unless they grovel for forgiveness.

Biologically speaking, we humans are sloshing bags of chemicals - including hormones. Sexual desire is not just normal, it is necessary for our survival as a race. Every animal on Earth has a strong biological urge to reproduce, especially during the peak physical years of their lives which for humans are probably between 15 and 25.

It would be funny, if it weren't sad, that religions first preach that sex ouside of marriage is wrong, and then also preach that masturbating is wrong. the bottom line is that by jr. high, every single boy is masturbating - and probably a lot of the girls (I'm not a woman so I can't speak on that exactly). And beyond jr. high and high school, most adults do it when necessary for their entire lives!!!

So I say, do it and don't feel guilty about it. And don't let religious leaders manipulate you.

I believe I could make a Biblical argument for my viewpoint, but there's not room here to go into all of that. Live by faith, - believe that it's okay and don't put a guilt trip on yourself. There is nothing you can do in this world that will make God love you any more or less than he already does.

Well, It`s not a big sin like fornication but what you are doing is wrong and may be god will judge you on it but you have to know that is not a sin and it is not a fornication because fornication happen only between a man and a woman and he must put his penis in her to call it fornication.

Many, MANY people will tell you it isn't a sin. That's because it's sooo easy to do, and people like to justify something that's viewed as wrong simply so that they can indulge themselves without the guilt. However, the answer lies therein. Guilt. You wouldn't feel guilty about something that isn't wrong. Those parts of our bodies are sacred, and are meant for expression of love with a permanent lover, and for reproduction with that lover. This has always been God's intent. Self gratification is tied strongly with lust. But it's worse than lusting. It's acting on lust, which leads to the perversion of the mind. Bottom line: just don't do it. I struggled with it for a long time, and I would hate to ever start doing it again. It's addictive, it's degrading... it's not worth it. Plain and simple.

Masturbation is never a sin and never will be. You are not harming anyone, u r just doing urself a favor when a sex partner is not available.

masturbation is the solution to rape and adutlery. and any solution to the problem is never a problem. Plus the fact that masturbation lessen the chances of std, lessen the chances of getting pregnant or getting someone preggy; so why would it ever be a sin?

no need to be guilty about it.. its not a sin and never will be.. so take it easy and more luck doing it!

If it was a sin then why did God create wet dreams im males a waste of seed. Your physical body nee a certian amount of sexuly release to feel fulled . and to take the edge off. all most everbody does it especly if they can not find a person of the oppisite sex who would be willing to be there partner for the night.
Then your left either with frustration and a mounting urge that may make you do the sin of rape. better to take your self in hand to get the release you need.

Hi there Bombshell...

If you believe the Bible.... then look this one up in yours:

(Matthew 5:27-28) . . .YOU heard that it was said, ‘You must not commit adultery.’ 28 But I say to YOU that everyone that keeps on looking at a woman so as to have a passion for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

This was Jesus talking...

I think it's difficult to masturbate without thinking about another human..... The above scripture applies to women as well as men...

Mike.

PS: Your preacher should not be judging you..... that's best left to the person who can do the job properly....

To answer from the preachers point of view. Yes it is a biblical sin. Keep in mind the bible is translated by scholars and the only direct reference in most translations is about seed being spilled on the ground.

BOMBSHELL21,
Yes! Okay? It's a sin. So what now? Stop sinning? Good luck with that. Are you trying to be ridiculous, or are you really worried about it. If you stop masterbating, will that mean that you will then be sinless?

If you are honest I think that you will say no.

Now be careful who you ask about that subject. I figure that your name might have something to do with the way you look and your age. So knock it off! You're going to make all these people masterbate, especially the straight or bi men and the lesbians.
I think that's most people.

So stop! Knock it off! Quit it and stuff.
