He suppost to come and visit me and he got some problems with his kid and sudden he cancelled his trip......We broke up and we decided not to communicate anymore.....after a month he sent me an e-mail asking me how I am doing...and telling me what he been up to

Ask him. That is all you can really do. It does sound like he still has feelings for you, but you will never know until you ask. Tell him that you don't mind it that he is communicating with you but are curious as to why because of your agreement. Ask him if there is something he is NOT telling you with the idle talk. Get to the bottom of it so as to not let yourself be led on. Good luck...

you guys broke it off...but deep inside he still cares for you....and I don't see a problem why he may ask you how are you doing....so point is he still cares for you :)
