Tape the tick to the calendar on the date that you removed it. That way, if there is any question later on about symptoms, you'll know the date you pulled it off and have the tick for testing, if needed. Check closely to make sure the whole tick is there, sometimes, the head stays embedded in the scalp.

did you make sure the head of the tick was still attached to the body? and what kind of tick was it? deer ticks are the ones to watch for lyme disease.

Kill it and save it in empty glass jar. Watch your child and if she developes chills, fever, redden circle anywhere on the body and numbness, go to the ER and bring the dead tick with you. Not all ticks carry Lyme disease

It couldn't hurt to make a doctor's appointment and have a blood test done. It is rather hard to see if a tick bite leaves a rash on the head because of all the hair. I would suggest getting a blood test done just to be sure.

you didn't say if it was attached or if it looked full. If it was attached the look at the tick and make sure it has it's head. If it doesn't then that might mean that it is still attached. If it was attached then look at the spot on his/her head. Go to www.mayoclinic.com/health/first-aid-tick-bites/FA00062

you gotta take your kid to your doc.
My gran had a tick behind her ear, thought she removed the whole thing, yet there was still some of the little sucker under her skin, she had paralisis because of this. Take your kid to the doc to be sure.
