Having naughty thoughts is normal, but "stopping" ourselves just before we act on naughty is the key about sin. Thinking of killing someone or pushing them down the stairs when we are angry is common, but cooling down and not actting on the "sin" is already the first step of avoidance of "sin"
Polygamy: This is where I believe, many of the Bible's texts causes confusion because the teachings are all blended in with the Culture of the time. Each culture developed differently, to say one culturally based way is suitable to all cultures is like saying taking an aspirin can cure all diseases. In remote parts of Tibet and Mongolia, it is actually normal practice for one woman to have multiple husbands! ( normally a group of brothers ) If that culture were to be brought over to the Israelites of the time, it would be considered profane.
Depending on how you view a relationship, i guess the safest way to go is Devotion to a loved one, as majority of cultures now accept monogamy and not polygamy

* If you don't want to sin, learn to control your thoughts.
One way to learn that, is to pray for help in doing so.
A second way is to apply behavior modification techniques.
* The basis for declaring that the thought is a sin.
Any action one does, begins with a thought. By controlling Ono's thoughts, one can control one's actions. Make it a sin to think the thought, and the individual will not think that thought.
By not thinking the thought, the action won't happen.
* Polygamy and religion.
This serves two functions:
i) Provide offspring for the clan leader;
ii) Provide a socio-economic net for woman;
Historically, marriage has been an economic union between two families. When a woman would otherwise lose her ability/rights to economic well being, a polygamous marriage has been the standard solution.

Do not think of other woman, thats the way to avoid it. In Muslims, it is not a sin, they are allowed to get married 4 times..as you mentioned, it was written in the Bible..
You can avoid it if you want..but havent heard of anyone who is not guilty of that sin.

Thoughts are planted in our minds by the things we see and also by the devil. The mere flash of a thought is not sin in itself, it is what we decide to do with that thought: Reject it, or entertain it.
2 Corinthians 10 (Today's New International Version)
4 The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. 5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.
James 1:14-16
14But every person is tempted when he is drawn away, enticed and baited by his own evil desire (lust, passions).
15Then the evil desire, when it has conceived, gives birth to sin, and sin, when it is fully matured, brings forth death.
16Do not be misled, my beloved brethren.

Its one of the easiest to avoid, just train yourself to imagine everyone is 80 years old and all thoughts of sex flee your mind. Thats why we hold doors open for them, get it? My betrothed really fooled me, she didn't look 80 years old at all. After marriage the same idea applies except for your mate, if your lucky. Whats with polygamy, why are just men allowed to have multiple partners?

the meaning of this is . not to have sex before marrage , and when married physical prostitution. is ingageing in sex. with another person . this breaks your vow to your spouce and is sin in gods eyes. and this is the only sin that desolves your marrage in his eyes as well as far as polygamy. this is mainley practiced by sects that try to act like a religious sect well in gods eyes that is a sin it is in your bible . my opion based on fact. gods word.? fact.
