I can understand your fear, I had a root canal last year and my tooth has felt better ever since. The only other option that I know of is to get the tooth pulled out. The pain is not that bad when the dentist does the root canal. After the root canal, you will need to get a crown to protect the rebuilt tooth and be sure to keep it flossed. I hope this helps.

You can go back and ask for a different antibiotic, but if it has gone too far, you need a root canal. Usually, however, they want to clear up the infection before they even do the root canal. You don't want to wait too long, since the infection can spread to the bone, then you are really in deep @hit. Root canals don't hurt, just annoying and you can ask him to give you a tranque to take an hour or so before if drills bother you. But: Do all you can to save your teeth -- china clippers are not cool. You'll need to see a good endodontist. Ask if the office uses microsurgical techniques If you lived in Phoenix, AZ I could send you to one of the best in the nation. There is another really top guy in Claremont, California. They aren't all the same, and they aren't all good.
