And what is the difference between Baking Powder & Baking Soda?

They serve as leavening (to make things rise). Baking powder and baking soda are very similar. I think the difference is that one has more sodium. Something like that. They're both good replacements for eggs, too (my brother's allergic).

Both are very similar and are used as raising agents in cake making, if a sponge recipe calls for 8oz of self raising flour you can replace this with 8oz of plain flour and 3 teaspoons of baking powder. I always use plain flour and baking powder when I make cakes.
