How many of you believe that its ok for a pastor to do well and make a good predetermined salary but that he should be out all week working just like those who give to the church do?You know doing things like praying the sick, visiting people in hospitols, helping the poor etc. Instead of flying his airplane, playing golf with other pastors and working 3 hours a week on sunday morning.

I am not slamming anyone in particular. I know that it take something to prepare a sermon I have prepared a few myself. I have seen quit a few though that yes they work in the office but they dont go out hardly ever they have people doing everything for them and serving them all the time and most people in the church work 40 plus hours a week some work 80. I love all ministers who are true and real. I just have seen a lot of crap most people dont know because they are busy doing what they do and are happy to come to church and never question anything. The world is upside down and it has in some ways crept into our church world also.

Well just because you call yourself a pastor does not mean you have no inconsistancies. I guess most people would just like to keep their heads in the sand. Why not as long we all have our creature comforts why should we care about whats rite and wrong?

Don't know who you're talking about, but every pastor I've known struggles to keep his hours down to the normal working person's level to take proper care of his family. Perhaps you're not fully aware of what you speak. You should be careful before casting stones.

well, my dad's a pastor, my father in law is pastor my Grandpa's a pastor both my wife's Grandparents were pastors and I know a lot of other pastors and I've never heard of one who only works a couple hours a week. There is a lot of work involved in writing a sermon, but yes a pastor should also be available to counsel people and pray for the Church and such but before you judge a pastor make sure you really know they are slacking off sometimes it can seem like that but they really do a lot of work you don't seem.

Our pastor is a science teacher, plus he spends hours preparing the Sunday Sermon, Bible Study for Evening classes, plus trying to find time to spend with his family, visit the sick, plus answer calls that come into the church, I think that if the church is big enough they should support the pastor, as the church grows his responisbilities become larger.....

I think you should not worry what somebody does. That they have a calling to minister to the sick and broken and they fulfill that obligation, why do you begrudge them a few hours of relaxation? There was a time not so long ago that any minister had to wear his black collar anytime they were in public. Thank God we have freed them of that restriction and they aren't chained to the cross 24/7. Hey, have you heard? Preachers aren't immatation Jesus', they are allowed to sin too even tho most don't, from what I have heard, doing so willfully takes all the fun out of helping others get over their own. Be thankful you have ministers, they are a blessing.

I agree there is much more to being a pastor than just preaching on sunday and I am sure most pastors know this and so their duty but even pastors should get some time off and its not a sunday for them. my pastor has bible study tuesday and thersday at our church also wensday at anorther church and he is very envovled in helping the homeless# and running a homeless project at his old church. fortunatly it is not to far away
and I know he does visit the sick and others in need also

Our preacher does work all week - 20 hours a week in his office working on sermons and available to counsel anyone that comes to see him or calls him - and the other 20 hours a week "in the field" visiting the sick, elderly, members of our congregation, helping the poor, having personal Bible studies, etc.
Of course our preacher doesn't make enough money to have a plane either lol! :)

My pastor though retired from his public job, did work, he worked for the local school system, and he also visited the sick, went to the hospitals, set up our children feeding children program, as well as counciling those in the church as needed, he has never received much of a salary for being our pastor, and still doesn't, being a pastor is a lot of work in and of itself, but if your pastors actions bother you and in truth it would me, I would talk to him about it. Voice your concerns. God Bless

I think churches should spend their time and money helping people here on earth instead Of shunning those who need help and telling said people their going to hell.

Those who are to lead the sheep of God have a much higher burden on them and whatever pastor you are talking about needs to re-evalute his priorities.
