…don’t have any room to talk. Ok, here is my point. I grew up in poverty. My whole family makes its living by living off disability. They can harly make thier basic expenses.
I served in the first Gulf War, so I had money to work my way though college. I hold a white collar job. Nobody in my family has ever worked a job that required more thought than running over their own foot with a forklift (sarcasm, but you got the point).
I own a house, swimming pool, and two new cars. Nobody, in my family, has ever owned a new car that was not repossessed by the bank. Nobody, in my family, has ever owned a house. Nobody in my family has ever finished high school. To this day, I have been 100% drug free. I can't say that for much of my family.
So where do they get the right to call me stupid, and tell other people they know, about thier "stupid son"?

I just remembered two things I forgot to add:
1. I gave my brother a perfectly running car. He ruined it after about two months.
2. I stay clear of my trash family whenever possible.
3. One member of my family is a unconviceted sex offender. I don't want to be associated with.

Some people cannot find joy in another person's success because they feel so crappy about their own life.
It is worse when it is family.
YOU know you are not stupid so let it go.
The best "revenge" (if you want to call it that) is your success!
With a family like yours - I"M PROUD OF YOU FOR ALL YOU HAVE ACCOMPLISHED!

You have to remember that alot of times one persons success is another persons embarassment. You see what I think is going on (and it is just my opinion) is that they see that you have made it and it makes them feel like they havent. You see I have 3 sisters and one married into money another did the same and the third did the same. I married a man that I love that didnt have money. He works hard and pays the bill but we have struggled frequently and there are times that I feel less of a person because my sisters have the houses and the cars and bank accounts and everything like that. While I have to work for everything that I have. I am telling you this because I want you to see how they may feel. It may not be that they think you are stupid it may just be because they cannot achieve the level of success that you have. You have no reason to ever feel stupid you got where you are by working your a$$ off. I hope you can understand what I said. Now let me cap this off by saying that just because They have money I do not treat them any different so I do not agree with you family saying what they do I just wanted to give you some ideas of what they may be feeling.

Well, you've heard the old saying "misery loves company?" I think that's your family's problem. Sometimes our families can be our worst enemies. It's sad, but if your parents aren't happy for you in your success, then I don't know what to say. They should be happy for you, and be smarter about what they say.
They don't realize that one of these days they're going to need that money of yours to keep them out of a nursing home. And if they don't treat you well now, I don't think it'll be fair of them to expect you to pay for their care later on. I think some people just don't think-period. One person's success in the family makes the whole family successful. That's how most people think. Sure, there is envy among most families(i.e. sibling rivalry-one sibling being more successful than another), things like that. But generally, I think most family members are happy when they see another family member doing well.
I know everyone wants their parents to be proud of them, and it's hard feeling that they're not. I know how it feels not to get the recognition you deserve from parents. Just realize it's not your problem. You've worked hard to do well in your life, and break the cycle of living off the system. You just keep being successful, and striving for better. You are the one who's right, and they are the ones who are stupid.

I personal don't like it when any body calls any body a name. What do they get out of it? All they are doing is just lowering their own self down. That is what kids do, call people names. So if someone wants to call some else a name, then as far as I am concerned they are acting really worse than a kid. I even taught my own kids NOT to call people names. I don't like the words stupid, retard, hate, etc. There are other words to use than these words.

You are not Stupid, They should be proud of you.
However, here is some advice;
Although, all the money, the cars & the house is yours & above all its your life, you & only you have the right to spend it the way you like, but we are living is society, If we want to truely enjoy the bounties of life its better to share it.
So all you need is to share your joys with your loved ones, you have the resouces, take them on some picnic, outing, invite them regularly for meals. Believe me, not only you will enjoy your life more, it will also keep their mouth shut.

If your family calls you "stupid", that's unfortunate. In my observations of how others react to successful people, I've found that jealousy usually rules their thoughts and what they say. It almost seems that people aren't happy unless you are in the gutter with them. It could be that they resent your success because they think you should share everything you have with them.
The next time they call you stupid, think of them as calling you the "smart one". It's just talk. Enjoy your self-worth.

You are an equal to others and are higher than some. Calling people stupid does not make you more smarter, it just makes you less of a person.
