Does anyone else believe the Bible is a tool of manipulation?

People justify things using the Bible as if it is fact, when really the Bible is merely a group of stories decided upon by a single bishop in history. I mean, if the book of Revelation wasnt included in the Bible, then people who believe in it wouldnt still have the same concept of apocalypse. Any thoughts?

Religion is the downfall of the world. It causes wars, and hatred, people that attend church become brainwashed very easily, and when they think their losing them they tell them to fast which makes them weak and easily brainwashed again. They talk about those cults where they draw people in as if thats different from the churches. have you read this? sorry it's long .

Regarding your question about the bible as a tool to manipulate, well, if in manipulation you mean to change your thoughts, and transforming you, you are right with that, but so does everything else in this world. Every single day our surroundings manipulate us, whether it is MTV, Commercials, Friends, Family members. Not a single instance in our surroundings are we not manipulated. As for me, i'd choose the Word of God to manipulate me. I choose the Word of God to brain wash me. Why? Yes, it is used to control people. It is totalitarian. It was designed that way, although some people who answer your question deny it. You are not allowed to even question it. I could not go along with that, even when I was nine years old or earlier. My brother and my oldest sister were brainwashed to follow it blindly. Sis blows her stack if I say anything that makes one question such beliefs...and I could write books on that subject. I wrote a series of letters to a local newspaper about "Bible (In)Accuracy". In my textbook for Bible Hisstory in college many contradictions in the Bible are listed. A book Billy Graham gave me lists more of them. I find many without looking very hard. I also mention scientific inaccuracies in the Bible, and one can find them galore. It says pi is 3, but it is 3.14159...so I cannot use the Bible for engineering work or even buying a hat. I wear size 7.8, not 8.2, as the Bible figure says.

Check this site out for a LOT of writing that never made it into the Bible.....Should a religion have to put some huge guilt trip on you to get you in the door...you bet. Becuase common sense would tell most people to stay clear of such "cults". Here is my point...If today a man named Jesus claimed the same things.....how would that work? Its been done numerous times throughout history, i mean Henry VIII had the bible rewritten so that divorce was acceptable, king James had the bible re translated to fit his needs. and if the bible is from the one true god, why the hell are there so many different religious groups that claim to follow it?
