I actually had a British Boyfriend who would say excuse me after he passed gas. It made me feel un-comfortable. I would rather ignore it than start a whole new way of talking about it and bringing it into a conversation.

Just ignore it...passing gas is just a fact of life, and it does happen. Yes, saying "excuse me" is the polite thing to do, but you have to realize that not everyone was raised with manners. And sometimes people just forget, or maybe they thought no one would notice if they didn't say anything. At any rate...it's no big deal.

u ignore it as if it didn't happen. they probably thought they were being sly, but it (lack of a better word) backfired on them. depends too on the age difference, if they r much older (elderly) then u ignore it. girl/boyfriends parents? ignore it. someone who's the same age as u... laugh it off!
