I usually shop for wine in Safeway which has pretty good deals and wine selection. I'd like to buy good, but not very pricey wine. Any recommendations?

For a good Zinfandel, you can't go wrong with Ravenswood Winery. They're slogan is "No Wimpy Wines" and their Zinfandel's pack a punch. The Vintner's Blend Zinfandel is very good; my favourite is the Lodi Vineyard Zinfandel but it is a bit pricey since it's a single vineyard (something like $40 Canadian).

I don't have a favourite Pinot Noir so I can't really suggest one there but look at some of the wineries from Oregon for it and you'll probably find one you like.

Most wines out Australia are great I would recommend Lindamens or rosemount and yellow tail for the pinot noirs
and for the zinfandels alot of Californian wines. I'm not sure if you get Canadian wines but if you do try some of the Jackson Triggs varietys low priced and good taste.

What my wife usually does is tries a different bottle once in awhile until she finds a favorite then buys that until she gets tired
of it.

Don't drink Turning Leaf.

In the $10-20 range, try:

Pinot Noir - David Bruce
Rancho Zabaco - Zinfandel
