“No, I don't know that atheists should be considered as citizens, nor should they be considered as patriots. This is one nation under God.” -- George Bush
This is a direct quote from the President.
1st Amendment
Article I-Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
George Bush is attacking anyone who is not Christian. What's next, is he going to rewrite the Constitution to suit his sadistic purposes?
Or the better question is...Are we going to let him?
My answer is a vehement NO!

As far as stating his beliefs, those same beliefs are leading up to a ban of the practice of Wiccan rituals on military bases, and no, I don't want you to sign the petition unless you agree with it and freedom of religion is for everyone, not just a select group.
Musicman, whether it applies to me or not, freedom of speech is for everyone. I firmly believe that. But what he is trying to do is wrong and whether you agree with me or not, it is the truth.
There, I hope I got it all out of my system. Sorry for the rant, but this is something that really gets to me.

Um...
Bush's statement about witchcraft was made seven years ago, with regards to circles being held at Fort Hood.
Wicca has already been recognized as a religion in several court cases.
http://www.religioustolerance.org/wic_rel.htm
There is a writeup for Wicca (and IMHO a pretty darned good one) in the Army Chaplain's Handbook already.
http://www.religioustolerance.org/wic_usbk.htm
I think this petition is making a mountain out of a molehill that doesn't even exist.
A note to Ravenhawk - the correct Bush quote is "I don't think that witchcraft is a religion. I wish the military would rethink this decision." (The military, not the Supreme Court)
Yes, there is a lot of discrimination out there. But IMHO we only hurt ourselves by overstating or misstating the truth in order to make ourselves "more victimized". Martyrdom does not become us. Honesty does.
If you want to get your nose out of joint over discrimination, join the effort to get the Wiccan pentacle approved as a marker for military veteran graves. It's been stonewalled for nine years, and the VA is hemming and hawing yet again about revamping their "rules" (which they were revamping last year, but that didn't stop two other symbols from being approved).

As President, he has no right to make statements like that.It would be one thing if it was a private conversation, but he is a Representative of The United States of America, and that means the entire population of this country. This country has freedom of religion and that means ALL religions, end of story. And legally, they cannot stop Wiccans from practicing any kind of rituals on the bases.Wicca is a recognized religion by the armed forces, and the ACLU would (and should!) have a field day if anyone brought up a discrimination suit.I wish someone would just give Bush a bl0wjob so we can impeach him!!!!

Obviously he is wrong about Atheists shouldn't be citizens or considered patriots. Bear in mind that he is a Christian man, so that is how his mind works. He isn't right, but this is America, where every man and woman has the right to say whatever dumb thing they want. See exhibit A right here where I am typing this in now.
He can't rewrite the Constitution even if he wanted to. The entire country would turn against him in a second. Besides, just because the president says this is one nation "under God", he didn't say WHICH god, it's just implied that he meant the Christian one. He wouldn't say which, because he didn't want to offend American Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, Pagans, Catholics, or Protestants by choosing one publicly.
Just take a deep breath and relax. No one is trying to force Christianity down your throat here in America yet.
Blessed be.

Bush is such a moron, I swear. Apparently he didn't get the memo everyone else did.
Our Founding Fathers where not Christian, they were Deists. A Deist is someone whom has their own interpretation of who, what, where, when and why God is. God was used as an umbrella term for all religions and lack thereof. Atheists and Satanists (and others, I'm sure) view themselves as their own God of sorts, while polytheistic religions have many Gods and Goddesses, and monotheistic religions only have one God. Basically, anything can be your own God.
So really, it's supposed to be taken as "In [insert your personal God here] we trust"; "One nation under [insert your personal God here]", and so on.
No, this was not supposed to be a Christian nation, nor was it supposed to be any other [insert religion here] nation. We're supposed to be established upon diversity.
I guess Bushy doesn't realize that people like him are the reason why our Founding Fathers started a nation of their own, separate from Europe, in the first place. They wanted to get out from under religious rule.
If Christians want this to be a Christian nation, well they need to pack their bags and leave for Europe. Better yet, we should send them all to the Middle East and show them what establishment of religion does to people.
Establishing any religion in this country is very Anti-American, in my opinion.
Edit: By the way, I signed it! Blessed be my sister!

He already controls the courts and the congress. He can do what he wants, and no one seems to care. Be cautious- next he will say that Pagans and Witches are helping the Muslim terrorists. The new burning times are just around the corner.

George bush is not attacking non-christians, he is stating his beliefs. For you to say he can't do that is utter hypocrisy.
