trying to install a program so i can scan and print pictures from my computer (computer is hp also)

If you dont have the CD-ROM on your PC, then you can either
* download the drivers from Internet and then install OR
* if your PC is on Network, copy CD Contents on to a Network machine, share that folder, copy to your machine from that folder OR
* Upload the contents of CD to any free filesharing websites such as filecargo.com from another PC that has CD-ROM. From that site download to your PC.

go to the hp site and download the drivers or programs you need. they should have them for free

try going to www.hp.com and looking for the software you need and download it. then install it.
that is if you have lost access to your original discs.
