If you'd like to pay $100 per month getting the HD service. it's not that HD service costs that much, but you usually have to buy all the movie channels, and get the "expanded cable" package, ect.

I got a 15' inch HD for my 360, but thats the only HD thing i can do with it.

Hey there. Yes i believe that HDTV is worth it only because once the technology is incorporated in to main stream life then any one with a non- HDTV t.v will be left out in the cold or forced to but a set top box to convert the signal from high def to whatever set you own. As far as i can discern HDTV will be the medium for awhile, technology has a bad habit of bighting you in the rump when you least expect it. If you play video games. ie; the 360 by Microsoft or the PS3 by Sony Corp you will want to have the high def set, this graphical jump from analog (i think) to your high def tv is jaw dropping, its drop dead gorgeous!. BUT........... on the other hand if you enjoy DVD'S and want comparable play back your gonna half to shell out more cash for a HD DVD player, then there is the little problem of Sony, they are introducing their Blu ray technology, leaps and bounds more prolific that standard DVD'S, they hold up to, i believe, 3 times the content than your standard DVD'S . SOOOO in closing i would like to say " have about 2,000 to 3,000 grand for a decent set up, maybe more but definately not less" I hope this helps a little bit for ya..

Currently, most all hi def TVs fail in picture quality in one form or another. They are by far better than the standard ntsc format but until they get the bugs out they aint gittin my money. It might also be wise to wait a year or so because there is new technology on the close horizon for a new screen system that promises higher definiton and a brighter picture! You will literally be able to buy your screen in a cyclindrical tube, roll it out on your wall and have a picture far superior than any hi def system on the market today.

although the picture quality can be excellent, there are still compatibility issues between different makers. theres no rush, give it a few years, by then the problems should have been resolved
