make them both small so that people don't overeat.
Children: one double layer 9x13" cake
Adults: 2 9x13" double layer cakes. Cut the pieces small.

A 9-inch round cake would be big enough for the children if you cut it into squares instead of slices. You can use a 9x9 square pan, too. You'll probably need two cakes for the adults, both of them in a 9x12 pan. Of course, this is assuming each piece of cake is around 2x2 inches, and everyone has 1 piece and you still have enough to give your grandmother when the party's over. I don't know if there's a such thing as an 18x24 inch pan, but if you find one, that would make one cake.
Also, you'll need two tubs of frosting (four if the cakes are two layers) for the adult cakes, and one for the child cake.

make the cake for the kids about the same size as the adults since kids like sweets more. You probably want a 3 piece cake or you can do one cake and put it together by three 12"-6" pans. You can paste the cake together with icing. so that should work

Why u even wanna make a cake /s. .......couldnt u find somethingelse that they will enjoy but without the excess calories, from d high amounts of fat and alarming qualities of refined cane/beet sugar.
Anyways, if u insist i sggest u make 2 20x20'' chiffon/sponge sheet cake for the adults, decorated with royal icing and edible roses or for a personalize look has ur grandma face or ur fav pic of her air brushed onto the cake. (creative yet original but personal)
But 4 the children i suggest a 10x 15 '' choc & vanilla marble sponge sheet cake, decorated with white royal icing with miniature edible tooping that is funny ....Ex, grandma riding a pony or petting an animal or singing in d shower....lol

I would make 2 Full Sheet Cakes like you would get at the Bakery. You would probably be assured that way of having enough for everyone and maybe some left over cake.

you need to make about 2-3 pounds of cake for the adults and 1 pd for the children... so it has to be about 15-24 inches wide and long, about 5 inches high or so... u can make a layer cake made of a rectangle then a square or cirlce... things like that...
g'd luck
