It really depends on the case:

Easy cases: orthodontists will use braces, Headgear, Retainer, palatal expander and etc to fix the crossbite

Hard cases: orthodontists will work with oral surgeon to determine if a surgery is needed to fix the crossbite.

Depends. There are so many different kinds of crossbite that I can't even guess. Anterior? Posterior? Single tooth? Multiple teeth? Bilateral? Add some detail to your question and maybe someone can give you more information.

Often they'll use a retainer or braces with the rubber bands applied so that they pull one set of teeth towards the other. Is this what you meant?
