I think it probably has something to do with your insurance system. If you are British then its probably because you belong in the NHS system and the nearest place would indeed be London. However that should not prevent you from obtaining private treatment anywhere else that you can afford or can go to. May be your Boyfriend does not have that facility. You know, like American dollars, a place to live and above everything else, a VISA to come to the USA?

The population of St Kitts is around 40,000, which makes it the smallest country in the Western Hemisphere. The number of people served by a typical London hospital is well over 1,000,000. Obviously the London hospitals have more doctors, more specialists, more equipment, etc. I'm sure St Kitts does have a hospital, but it will be somewhat limited in its capacity.

What is your nationality? if you are British go back there. if You can afford to go to the Nearest "real" hospital then you would have to pay for it. We do not have National Health Care in the USA but I am not sure if your health care system would pay for it.
