From what you are saying I assume it is a cloth covered couch and the possibility that you can't take the cushion outside to air out.
Try washing the spot with diluted white vinegar with a little mild detergent (try a hidden spot first for color fastness). Rinse as well as you can then let it air out and dry. The vinegar should neutralize the odor.
If the cushion can be removed then the cover of the cushion should be able to be taken off and washed (preferrably by hand) and hung out in the sun to dry. As far as the inside cushion, which is probably foam, you should be able to wash it in water with some vinegar and detergent like above and then lay/hang it out in the sun to dry.
It may even be worth the effort, if the cushion can't be taken off, to take the whole couch out into the sun and let it air out. The sun will work wonders for small odors like that.
Good luck.

If you have not tried it, go to a local pet store and get some stuff called "Nature's Miracle". That stuff truly IS a miracle! I was able to removed the smell of tomcat urine from a couch and the smell of wet dog from a chair with that stuff. I found it worked GREAT! After using it, spray the couch with a little Fabreze just to freshen it up a bit.

you can try cleaning it with vinegar, soak it down good and vacuum it out . the vinegar smell will soon dissipate and you won`t be able to smell anything.
