I notice there is not alot of people that like Jacks how come ?

I just thought i would ask that question to see how many people like their dogs and what kind is their fav. But does anyone like Jacks or is it that they are just too hyper for some.......

My dog is part Jack Russle and I love her more than anything. She is very hyper and playful and l wouldn't change a thing about her!

I think Jacks are great little dogs, but I think you're right that alot of people shy away from the breed because of their high energy level. We all have our preferences. I work in animal rescue and have dealt with many different breeds. I think that if I could only have one dog it would have to be a male Boston. They are so arrogant, intelligent and fun. The females I have fostered never had quite the same personalities as the males. I don't know if that's typical or if it was just the dogs who have come through our group. Anyway, whatever type of dog a person decides to bring home I hope he/she will look to the shelters and rescue groups out there to find the perfect new addition to his/her family.

My favorite breed would have to be the Shetland Sheepdog because they are loyal and smart.

I think a big thing with jack russells is that they are very hyper, bark a lot, and last I heard they weren't recognised by the AKC.

They are good dogs if trained well but most people prefer an easier breed, you see the same in horses where Arabians and Thoroughbreds are somewhat avoided because they are reputed to be spirited and in cats with Siamese because they are loud, and in rabbits were people avoid brittania petites, hotots, and netherland dwarfs becase the are said to bite.

I don't dislike any dog, but I wouldn't own a jack, we have a friend that has one, and he ate a hole in her door, the baseboards, during one of the hurricanes he came in our house and walked over to where my husky was crated (didn't want her sneaking out the door with people and dogs coming in), and peed all over the front of her crate. Same hurricane after it was all over but the rain we had the dogs outside on leashes because our fence was gone and she was sitting beside me and he walked over and peed on her. He is fixed but this dog pees any and everywhere, when my roommate was getting ready for work he peed on the shirt she was ironing. My brother and father also have one, my brothers humps everything (and he's fixed), my dad's is destructive if he isn't crated. I'll keep the damage that comes from my husky or shepherds over the jack any day.....

we have an 11 month old Jack named Sasha... she's very hyper, very playful, has a Ton of energy, but Incredibly intelligent.
With good obedience classes, Jacks can be trained not to jump up and to have control... They can have ADD *attention deficit disorder* so you have to keep them busy during their play time.

She hasn't destroyed my leather furniture or any furniture... she LOVES socks and my kids stuffed animals when she can get a hold of them. But when she was losing her baby teeth, she did take to chewing the baseboards... She's got a high pitched bark at times, but she's not too yappy. She does a good job at letting strangers know she's there when they come to my front door LOL

Yes, they are much too hyper. I've never visited a home with one that didn't jump all over everyone the whole (brief) time we were there.

there's NO SUCH THING as"hyper"in dogs. JRT are ACTIVE.

NOT a breed for me & I've known & hunted w/a BUNCH of em. Besides the relative lack of care in BREEDING!! WAY too many folks are churning out CRAP!
