I've been a Christian for 31 years - I also love the Harry Potter series - people have to distinguish between entertainment and reality.

Christian or not, there is nothing wrong with Harry Potter, it is just a story. Think of it this way, the Bible is just a story and so is Harry Potter.

I'd like to take that little Hairy Potter and whoop his hairy little butt! He is a serious threat to all God fearing Christians.
These little kids think he is innocent and cute, but by God he is teaching these kids to believe in Satan and witchcraft. All this Hairy Potter hype is just a conspiracy cooked up the the Jews and the Bilderbergers to undermine the Christian church and institute a New World Order where they control all the people with their godless hocus pocus.
I'm planning a Hairy Potter book and DVR burning party at my church!

My slightly (okay, really) fundamentalist aunt wouldn't let my young cousins go see Harry Potter because apparently she thinks the magical stuff is...sinful, or something (specifically, that supernatural things not explicitly God-sanctioned are therefore of the Devil.) Of course, this is the same aunt who, one day when my cousin got stuck solving a jigsaw puzzle, asked her "Now honey, where would Jesus put the puzzle piece?"
One might say that growing up with my extended family certainly might have quickened my path to atheism... ;-)

I don't hate Harry Potter...I really enjoyed the books and can't wait for the last.
I also love JRR Tolkien and CS Lewis...both Christians, both great creators of fantasy worlds.

My parents used to, because a televangelist told them so. Later, another televangelist said Harry Potter was okay, so they bought the movies and started letting my brother read the books. Whatever.

Because some people are threatened by anything that has to do with the unknown, even when it's fictional.
