OK...i used to work at a Chiropractic office and can tell you that you should figure out whats going on with your neck/back. Go to a Chiro and get checked out, state the severity of your pain and go from there.
As to the comment about nerve blocking...have you already been diagnosed? Don't take meds of that measure unless you have no other solution

No no no.
Go see a pain control specialist.... or your primary care doc can refer you to an anesthesiologist that can do a nerve block for pain control.
Your chiropractor is not trained to do nerve blocks.

your family doctor can refer you to an orthopedic doctor if necessary... my family doctor sent me to get ex rayed and found out i have degenerative disk disease in my neck (arthritis) and gave me exercises to do to keep my neck and shoulders and upper back strong.... and i did not have to see any specialists... so start there and see what they come up with... if need be they can refer you to someone else should you need more than they can provide...

a physiotherapist would definitely help. mine drew up an exercise regimen for me to work on strengthening the muscles supporting my neck and spine. regular exercise of stretches and strengthening greatly helped my upper and lower back.
