My BF and I will be getting married at the court house and having a huge party. I also have 3 kids, and his 2 live in another state, so our finances are tied up taking care of them. There is nothing wrong with having a JP wedding and a huge party!

congrats!

If you want to have a big wedding and a big party, and it's financially feasible to do so, then go for it!! The rules that say your 2nd wedding should be lower key have been thrown out the window! It's a celebration of you and your new husband's commitment to one another, and the bringing together of 2 families. I think it's great.

You might want to look into having a part of your ceremony kind of dedicated to the blending of the 2 families, buy a necklace or some other piece of jewelry for the children, you present his kids with theirs, and he'll present your kids with theirs. I've seen that done at one wedding, and thought it was a wonderful touch!

Best of luck to you!

Have a small wedding with "some" family and your closest friends, maybe in a small chapel. Then go all out for the party and let everyone celebrate with you! This gives everyone a chance to meet and gives you a good excuse to eat all the cake you want!

Have a big wedding so that you can go in debt for the next twenty years and so you can humiliate yourself when you get a divorce in a few months.

Big reception!!!!!!! It's hard to say........but that is what will be remembered! Have you and your closest friends and relatives share your small ceremony and then have a big party for everyone else to share your joy!

Whether your first or your fourth, make the day a special one you'll want to enjoy and remember. Do what makes you and your fiance happy. Think about what you really want and go for it. Good luck!
