God isn't necessarily an emotional/ high strung experience. I've never spoken in tongues, but I have lifted up my hands in worship. Attend a church where you feel more at ease.

It depends on what you mean by "uncontrollable". In Act 2:38 the apostle Peter along with other devout disciples experienced the outpouring of the Holy Spirit and they began to act like drunk men because the power of the Holy Spirit subdued them. They gave up their own control and let the Holy Spirit have free course in them. When ever we let the Holy Spirit have free course it will be in a peaceful way. But to those who are not familiar with workings of the Holy Spirit it looks uncontrollable. Some churches do not have this experience because they doctrines that they teach hinder the move of God in their church. In some cases, demons and devils have bound a church to keep it from moving in the power of God. This was the case with a particular baptist church I would visit down south. The people did not believe in speaking in tongues or any gifts of healing. However, God changed the life of my uncle. My uncle was on the church board. He was an adulterer, ran a porno shop, and did every wicked deed you could think of under the sun. However, he became saved for real and filled with the Holy Spirit. He took that same fire and zeal back into his church. All of a sudden it came to life and now the Holy Spirit is operating in the church in a powerful way.

speaking in tongues is a gift of the spirit. But what is the point if no one there knows what is being said? How does getting excited at a meeting, where several people are "in the spirit" give glory to God, how does it minister to others? It seems like a very situational gift, but still a gift at the right time.
And what if it isn't God that is causing people to speak in tongues, but another spirit? If it isn't God , then it's of the devil.
Ministering to others, visiting the sick, donating your time and money, and talents to God seem more important and useful don't you think? God gives everyone talents, and everyone can serve God in some way. Part of spiritual growth is finding out what gifts you have, and learning the best way to use them, giving God the glory. Worship should be about focusing on God, not on others babbling in the middle of chruch.

"Pentacost" is real... "Pentacostal" is a denomination. All believers go through spiritual movements but disorderly ones are not of God. 1 Cor 14 explains in detail about orderly worship. I question the authenticity of anything that only happens to a person when they're at church and not when they're alone in their private prayer time.

It happens in every religions but with little difference, that's all. Watch the Charismatics among Catholics. Watch the new Hindu spirituals like Amma's Group (Amrita), Art of Living, Sathsanghis (The companion of Truth) The Mormons, they all have some common features. Except speaking in tongues - they are all a copy of one another.

Its the drugs they take before the service, it could be snake bites too.
I experience uncontrolable things in the service too, calm, peace, saltisfaction...except if I eat beans on Saturday nite, Then I experience uncontrolable urges.

Do you mean speaking in tongues? I have always wondered that too. My husband was raised Pentacostal and he wonders too.
