Spending more time w/your dog will pick up his spirit. Take dog for a walk every day. Do you have a cool place for your dog to stay during the day w/cool clean fresh water? If not get w/ it. If your dog isn't happy when he sees you when u come home each day he might be depressed, or maybe sick. If he has changed his behavior pattern recently try to remember what caused the change. Perhaps it was a harsh word or some loud noise that frightened him. Sometimes a few kind words and spending some extra time w/him each day will make quite a difference. If you don't like to spend as much time as you used to spend w/him,perhaps it's time to see if you can find some one who would love him. Talk to your local vet. it might be a medical problem, don't forget ou have outside interests and other friends and spend time away from home, he has only you and will give his devotion to just you.

Ok since vet is a last resort for you....... any injuries need to be cleaned with something that kills infection and bacteria (instead of just saline). Betadine, bactine, etc or you can be asking for trouble. Next check to see if they are surface/skin wounds or if there is damage to the "meat" underneath. muscle damage will require more treatment. Once the wounds are treated and not showing signs of infection, give him time and space, an attack is a traumatic experience and will take some time to get over. Just give him space and lots of love. He most likely has some sore tendons and muscles after that also(only time will help that), being quiet and not wanting to eat is fairly normal as long as it doesn't last for days on end. He will get back to himself in a little while. DO contact your local dog law enforcement officer or your local police for contact info and report that dog! It is against the law for this kind of behavior to happen. If your dog was under control and leashed and this dog left it's yard to "attack" it is a aggressive and dangerous dog (even if it only acts like that to dogs). The owner should be fined for not controling her animal so it cannot hurt others. It obviously isn't the first time if she just dragged it away like it is a common occurance.Owners have to be made to be responsible pet owners.

Some signs of depression are a lack of energy, a lack of appetite,
responses are slow.....but I think you should be examining the reasons why your dog seems to be suffering. Is he/she eating a natural balanced diet and getting sufficient exercise? Are any members of the dog's family depressed right now? Animals are all about energy.

it doesn't want to eat, it doesn't bark much, it doesn't greet you when you gets home. etc.
or it can be irritated very easily. it barks a lot at things it shouldn't be barking at. it runs around like nuts, gorges itself...
basically, a depressed dog pretty much has the same symptoms as a depressed person.

if it doesn't eat or play, maybe if it stares out doors or windows all day or mopes around doing nothing, if it lost a loved one, or an owner went on vacation and even when it came back it was upset you left in the first place so i would say that you should give it new toys lots of love, show pics of loved ones, bring over its loved one, and maybe even talking to it could help alot...Love Victoria

a really easy way to tell if your dog is depressed or stressed is to look on their head. if they have white lines or dots on their head they are depressed or stressed out.
