I have been an on again off again christian for a few years now the reason is because I feel like the things that God does aren't right. Like war and poverty and stuff like that. I'm not really sure what to do. I know there is a God, I can't deny it when He is so evident, but the choice to follow Him is very hard. I feel like God isn't just in the things that He does sometimes. I'm not sure if this question makes sense, sorry if it doesn't, I just need some advice and someone to talk to I guess.

Thanks

Well if Christianity isn't working for you. Look at other spiritual paths.

Have you check out a religion finder. There are a bunch of them on the web. It might help you find a good fit.

Here is an example.

God does not "do" things like war and poverty. Every person has a free will, and He does not interfere with that. He does allow things to happen, but if you love Him and you serve Him it will work out for the good. Although war is not the best thing sometimes, it is Biblical for you to defend yourself and your country, even if it seems horrible at the time. God loves you and He wants you to follow Him. Don't give up on Him. Keep reading your Bible and ask the Lord to show Himself to you. He will be there when you need Him. Don't let the world's problems discourage you. This world is in a sorry state of sin. That is because people CHOOSE it. That is not God's fault. He wants all people to be saved and follow Him but He will not force Himself on anyone.

Take the time to think for yourself, I'm not saying walk away from Christianity, but the reality is..the flavors of 'Christianity' are nothing more then an interpretation of the works of Jesus Christ and his time on Earth. I'm not saying that there is no Jesus, and I'm not saying there is or is not a God, BUT...I am saying I have problems w/ the interpretations that have been forced down our throats from day one (as westerners).

For the most part ALL major religions have this core at heart.
dont kill
dont hurt
respect all living things.
etc..
more
but based upon those cores and principles establish a good moral barometer and live your daily life like it's your last, sucking the juice of every available moment. In the end if there IS a God, his judgement of you is NOT going to be whether or not you followed a certain dogma, but that you believed in yourself, respected yourself, and made the best of all that life offered..(good and bad)

Good luck in your soul searching!

Well, there's a few things to know about God, and as well, a few directions to know about.
First of all, he never said life was going to be a cakewalk. Heck, look how his own disciples died.
Second off, with wars, and the evil permeating everything....the best way to look at that, is that it's only during this life....the reward, of heaven, is what you can look forward to....and not the myth of mohammad.
Third, God helps the ones he wants to. In some cases, loved ones die...but you can look at it this way....If an uncle or aunt was dying, and in misrable pain....wouldn't you want them to go to a better place? Or, a good example, is a deacon at our church, who's in critical condition....he's not doing well, so either the Lord's seeking him to rest....or, he's pulling him out, before the planet gets any worse.
A lot of people waver on the fence, because temptation is strong, in this world....that's what Satan lives for, is to show you all the things you can do to yourself....people get promotions, wars are fought, for crazy reasons....and most of all, nothing makes sense....one thing still does....and that's God's word.
There is a time, and a place for everything.

trust in God, because he love you. In the last days there will be wars and rumors of war but the end is not yet. Your rewards and the people in poverty rewards is in Haven. Know this there is a reason for every thing under the sun and God said lean not to your own understanding. Do not give up on God, Jesus suffer when he was here on earth, he had no place to lay his head, he was crucified, he was called many things, he went Thur so much but he continue to do God's will and today he wait for the day to come back to get all that love God. God gave up his only Son so that we may be save and join he and Jesus in Haven one day soon. Bad things happen but so does Good.

God gives us free will. That is the reason why there is war and poverty. Mankind has put themselves in the situation that they are in and satan really didn't help make any better niether. God doesn't make all that stuff happen he wants it to be better but at the same time.......he has given us free will. If we follow God our lives will come together and at the same time they will also fall apart. They fall apart because God and the world does not go together. The world hates God so when you are following God it is very hard to stay in faith. Have faith though that God is alot stronger than the enamy becuase he is.

Sounds like you are struggling with the question "If God is loving and just, then why does he allow evil to exist?" It's a good question, but let's start with love.

Love requires the exercise of free will. Without free will, there cannot be love. Yet, with free will comes the option of choosing something different (i.e., not love). Thus, when humans reject God's love by exercising their free will, they allow evil to enter the world (you've heard all the arguments -> "look at what man has done in God's name, therefore, there can be no God"). Confusing man's evil acts for God's gift of free will is a tragic mistake.

The choise to follow God is indeed hard. It is difficult because Christians continue to have their sinful nature even after accpeting Jesus. And it is the constant struggle with this sinful nature that makes it difficult - becoming a Christian will not make this struggle go away.

Another way to look at it -> God is omniscient, so perhaps he knows more than you or I do. And with that knowledge, perhaps the flaws you see in his plan are merely flaws in your ability to see and udnerstand his plan... like the ant complaining about the architecture of the internet.

Find a PCA church in your area (www.pcanet.org) and ask them your questions. Challenge them to intelligently articulate their answers and see if they make sense.

Good luck.

That is a very legitimate question that must be answered for you in a satisfactory way for you to go on with your christian life,

The short answer to all those things is He is God and knows whats best for us. And keep in mind He sees all things from an eternal perspective He is not limited to thinking life on this earth is the greatest.

You should seek help from your pastor, priest or trusted Christian Friends to guide you through these things in scripture so that they are settled in your mind.

May God bless your seeking. He loves a seeking heart most of all. Also don't be afraid to tell God about your doubts, He has very broad shoulders and can take whatever you can dish out at Him.

People in this world make choices that go against God. He is in control, but only to a point. He has given us free will so that we as a human race, must suffer the consequences of our actions, and unfortunately the actions of others. When we lean on Him for strength, guidance, wisdom, and protection, life for us is easier to handle. Even if something bad happens....usually if we go through a hard time, it is to make us stronger...they call is baptism by fire, or like a piece of pottery that gets perfected in the kiln. (oven). Most of the bad things in our life help us become better people. Imagine if someone always had life easy.....what would they learn from it? Until Jesus returns, life here will not be that great, we must keep our eyes focused on Him so that when He brings peace and joy we so badly want, we will have it. STAY STRONG!!!!!

God has let man control their lives, no matter what it is. He watches and waits, He didn't start the wars, he didn't cause the poverty. Those started over GREED.
Poverty could have been stopped, if the Governments would use the money they steal from the people would have been used to build the cities, the corps, the water ways that have been needed. And the peoples needless fight over who they think people should pray to. Our time is coming, and only one will stand in judgment over mankind. Does he listen to our prayers and our rants? Yes, he has shown me more help at the times I really really needed it, but not when I could have answered the call myself. Yes I believe in the Great Spirit, but in my Terms, not someone Else's.

War and poverty are a result of man's choices, God hates all things evil. When I make poor choices their are consequences that is called freedom too choose. What path a person takes is their choice. When I follow God's commands I see a notable difference in my life, that is the truth!
