i dont think i have time to wait to recieve one here in the states. central america is my destination. thank you.

You will need a passport to leave the country, and to enter the other country. In some places, you can get one expedited .. at a cost ... there are some places (you can find them online) that specialize in 72 hour passports.... might be worth a look see.

You won't be able to leave the country legally without a passport, so no you can't get one after you leave.

make it easier on yourself. Apply for it before you leave and have it mailed to you in central america if you don't have time to wait for it before you leave - it may be difficult to get one in CA
